DIY Belly Dance Bra + Optional Belt — 4‑Week Craft Series

Transform your style and elevate your performance with a creative journey into costuming! This intimate, guided series empowers you to design and build a bedazzled belly dance bra—with an optional matching belt—using your own materials and personalized flair.

What You'll Create

  • A stunning, custom dance bra, fully covered and embellished to your unique vision.

  • Optional belt made from sturdy fabric (denim/canvas), styled to complement your bra.

  • A tangible, wearable piece ready for photo ops, dance events, and personal expression.

Series Schedule (Once a Week, 1 Hour Each)

Week 1 – Discover & Design

  • Explore fabrics, beads, coins, chains, fringe, and hardware.

  • Sketch your design and mood board.

  • Choose your color palette and decide if you'll make the optional belt.

Week 2 – Prep & Cut

  • Layer your bra with 4‑way stretch fabric and cut it to fit.

  • Optionally, cut the belt base to size.

  • Learn neat-cutting and fabric handling techniques.

Week 3 – Construct & Glue

  • Sew your base fabric securely onto the bra (and belt base if applicable).

  • Attach heavier pieces (gems, coins, chain) using E6000 or similar glue—set these overnight to ensure durability.

Week 4 – Embellish & Showcase

  • Hand-sew final decorative accents: fringe, beads, charms.

  • Fine-tune fit and finish.

  • Wear your creation, take photos, and celebrate your artistry in a mini reveal/celebration!

What to Bring (BYO Supplies)

  • Bra: Thrifted or new—sturdy fit is key

  • 4-way stretch fabric: To cover your bra base—this can also be thrifted!

  • Optional belt base: Denim or canvas for matching set

  • Embellishments: Beads, rhinestones, coins, chains, fringe—go wild!

  • Craft kit: Needle, thread, hot glue gun + glue sticks, E6000 adhesive

I will be supplying design and sketch materials, as well as any specialty items we may need (like belt hardware or clasps). I will also be bringing in my collection of bras and belts for students to inspect and get inspired from!
